This is the BEST chocolate chip banana bread recipe! It’s loaded with chocolate chips, full of bananas, and incredibly moist and delicious!

It’s my LAST recipe of the year; and I guess you could say I kept the best for last! This chocolate chip banana bread is my favorite way to make banana bread because of how amazingly delicious it is. It’s a hit among family and friends, and I always find myself making so many loaves during the holidays!

I realize this year, I didn’t get to share as many recipes as I would’ve liked with you all. It was a year filled with transition and travel, and while I wasn’t home most of the time to whip up my recipes; I did gain a worldly experience having visited Israel, London, Copenhagen, and Paris. I also got to visit cities in the United States like Seattle, New Orleans, New York; and if you’ve been following me on my instagram you probably saw all my travels for the year. If you aren’t following me, what are you waiting for? Go ahead and give me a follow, but worry not… I have a lot of travel recap posts coming to the blog in the new year! I just want to take some time and thank you all for being a part of the #Evseats community and for all your support this year. With the release of my cookbook, Flavors of Africa, I have a lot of exciting things planned for 2020 so stay tuned! Okay, back to this amazing chocolate chip banana bread recipe!

The key to amazing banana bread is to make sure to use RIPE bananas. Bananas that are still yellow, but have quite a bit of black spots are the ideal bananas to use. If you use bananas that are too black the bread won’t turn out right, so make sure you don’t use overripe bananas. Bananas that are green or all yellow are not ripe enough, and you definitely do not want to use them in banana bread. The outcome won’t be nearly as sweet enough, and the bananas will be hard to mash. You also won’t get that banana taste in the bread so avoid using those types of bananas for this recipe.

This recipe is simple. It doesn’t have too many unnecessary ingredients, and will lead you to making the perfect loaf of banana bread every time you use it. This chocolate chip banana bread is incredibly moist, and one of the ways I achieve this is by not completely mashing up the bananas. This is a chunky batter, and if you keep some chunks of banana in the batter… the result is a moist bread with that yummy banana flavor. For flavor, I like to add a dash of cinnamon and that’s it. No other seasonings. I also use vanilla extract, but that’s a given in baking. Right?

What makes this bread that much more special are the chocolate chips!

I’ve loaded this batter with chocolate chips. First we start with a cup of chocolate chips that will go into the batter. When Im ready to pour the batter into the pan, I line my loaf pan with wax paper and then spray it with a little cooking spray. I then pour the batter into the loaf pans, smooth the top, and then comes the fun part. I love to sprinkle the chocolate chips directly on top of the batter, and I have a heavy hand! You can control the amount of chocolate chips in this recipe by either not topping the batter with extra chocolate chips, or just using a small handful. Chocolate and bananas are such a good combination, and in my opinion the more chocolate the better!

This goes in the oven to bake for about 55 minutes, and then I pull it out and let it rest before slicing. Very important stuff! Check out the recipe below, and Happy New Year to you all. Wishing 2020 to be a year filled with more life, blessing, and delicious food! -xX Evi
