dineL.A. restaurant week is back in full force this year, and for my first restaurant I decided to check out The Cannibal Beer & Butcher with my foodie friend Varissa, from the foodie account @Misoo_Hungry!

For those not familiar with what dineL.A. is, it’s a 15 day dining event that showcases Los Angeles as a premiere dining destination, highlighting the best and diverse culinary cuisines this beautiful city has to offer. Restaurants that participate offer a special menu for both lunch and dinner at a set price. Lunch is  2+ Courses ranging at $15, $20, or $25 and Dinner is 3+ Courses ranging from$29, $39, $49, $95.

It’s a great way to get out and visit those restaurants that you’ve been eyeing because you get a 2 or more course meal for such a great price. Last year I visited Providence LA during the restaurant week, and it was amazing!! I spent $95  on a 4 course meal, and if you know anything about Providence it’s a very upscale dining establishment were normally my meal would have been upwards of $300. Cant beat that, right?!

Back to the Cannibal Beer & Butcher!

Ever since one of my friend’s told me about his visit to the Cannibal Beer & Butcher in Hell’s Kitchen (NYC) it’s been a goal of mine to make it there. So when they opened up a location in Los Angeles, my prayers were answered! My prayers were further answered when I saw that they would be participating in Dine LA. What better way to visit the restaurant than with a special menu?

The Cannibal is a butcher’s restaurant. According to their site, “The menu has the sense that your neighborhood butcher, who happens to be obsessed with beer, has decided to make dinner.” Um, yes please!!! They feature large primal cuts like braised pig heads, whole roasted lamb shoulder, racks of prime dry aged beef and they utilize the WHOLE animals that they receive daily. The menu crafted by Chef Francis J. Derby is rooted in American charcuterie with an empahsis on seasonal and local ingredients.

Charcuteries are pretty popular right now, and with good reason. Who doesn’t love a bunch of cured meats and cheeses presented to you on a board? Heaven! Pleased with the fact that I was going to be eating meat (and not human meat; I mean the name does make you wonder. LOL!) with such good company, the dineL.A. menu did not disappoint! Check out our eats below!

Country Pâté with IPA mustard and grilled bread.Kicking off Dine LA's 2017 restaurant week at The Cannibal Beer & Butcher LA, American charcuterie with an emphasis on seasonal and local ingredients.First time eating pate? It’s an acquired taste for sure, but it’s absolutely delicious! Pâté is a mixture of cooked ground meat and fat minced into a spreadable paste. This was done really well, and the IPA mustard was so tasty! Probably up there on the best mustards I’ve ever had. And yes, I know what your thinking… Does this girl really have a list of her top mustards? The answer is yesMy love for mustard is unreal! I definitely recommend ordering this dish.

One Salumi & One Cheese with grilled bread.Kicking off Dine LA's 2017 restaurant week at The Cannibal Beer & Butcher LA, American charcuterie with an emphasis on seasonal and local ingredients. This was my first time having salumi. Varissa and I were too shy to ask what the difference between salumi and salami was, but researching it later on I found that salami is just a version of salumi. In any event, this dish was pretty tasty. The salumi just melted in your mouth and I really liked it with the cheese.

Dry Aged Burger with provolone, steak sauce, & 1000 island.Kicking off Dine LA's 2017 restaurant week at The Cannibal Beer & Butcher LA, American charcuterie with an emphasis on seasonal and local ingredients.Varissa’s choice, and she chose well didn’t she?! I personally didn’t try this burger because she ordered it rare, and I like mine cooked a little more, but I could tell she enjoyed it because of the look of happiness on her face.

Porchetta Sandwich with mayo, cherry peppers, & ginger scallionKicking off Dine LA's 2017 restaurant week at The Cannibal Beer & Butcher LA, American charcuterie with an emphasis on seasonal and local ingredients. My choice, and absolutely delicious! The pork was nice and crispy and the flavors of the cherry peppers and ginger scallion were bright. It made the first bite very enjoyable.

I definitely will be visiting The Cannibal again. They have a communal happy hour that I’m dying to try, and based on my dineL.A. lunch experience I know the food will not disappoint!
