Crispy, fried garlic chicken wings tossed in a sweet and sticky glaze. You won’t be able to keep your hands off of these! 🙂

I’m a sucker for a nice piping hot fried and crispy chicken wing. Doesn’t matter the flavor…. hot, spicy, sweet, lemon….whatever, rest assured you’ll find me in a corner going in on a plate of wings! Surely I can’t be the only one?

I know I’m not 🙂 and as chicken is something that I post regularly here on the blog, I’m really happy to be sharing these sticky, sweet garlic chicken wings because they are FULL of FLAVOR, and down right addicting!

The flavor comes directly from two sources. First the wings are breaded in a blend of flour, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and a lot of ginger! Then they are fried in peanut oil until they are crispy and golden brown. You could of course stop here, and eat them just like this. I won’t tell because I do it all the time, and they taste amazing!! But if you want to take them to that next level of extreme deliciousness, then the sticky sweet glaze is key!

To get that sticky, sweet glaze I used Truvia® Nectar, the newest product from the Truvia® line! It’s a natural stevia-honey blend sweetener that has all the sweetness of honey with half the calories. Chicken wings and healthy don’t normally go together (LOL), but it’s nice to cut calories where you can. I also really loved the taste of the nectar, and it’s great that I can #usenectar wherever I would traditionally use honey. If you can’t find nectar; honey is the perfect substitute.

The nectar goes in a pot with some soy sauce and a lot of garlic! My dorot garlic cubes really came in hand here! I let that lightly simmer for 10 minutes, and then as soon as I remove the chicken from the oil, they’re dropped  and tossed into the glaze! The result every time are these irresistible sticky, crispy wings that’ll always please a crowd of hungry people!

Total Time: 1 hour 10 minutes

Crispy, fried garlic chicken wings tossed in a sweet and sticky glaze. You won’t be able to keep your hands off of these!

Ingredients

For the Glaze

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 5 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 cup of Stevia Nectar or honey
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 1 tsp black pepper

For the Chicken

  • 3 pounds of chicken wings
  • Peanut oil for frying
  • 2 cups of flour
  • 5 tbsp of ground ginger
  • 2 tsp of cayenne pepper
  • 1½ tbsp of salt
  • 2 tsp of black pepper
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 tbsp of cold water

Instructions

For the Glaze

  1. Heat the olive oil and garlic in a small saucepan over medium heat for 1-2 minutes, until the garlic has softened.
  2. Add the nectar (honey), soy sauce, and black pepper and simmer together for 10 minutes. Keep an eye on this carefully as the sauce can boil over over the pot. (Will leave you with a burnt nightmare!)

For the Chicken

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, ginger, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
  2. In a separate bowl whisk the eggs and cold water together to make an egg wash.
  3. Take the chicken wings (washed and trimmed) and dip them into the egg wash, and then toss them in the flour mixture.
  4. Drop and fry the coated chicken in peanut oil at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes, until the outside is golden brown and crispy.
  5. Remove from the oil, and while the chicken is still hot, drop the wings into the sauce.
  6. Serve immediately!
