Abuelita Hot Chocolate

28 2.9K views

I love this time of year…

I’ve spent the last 3 days in pajamas eating Thanksgiving leftovers and watching non stop Food Network and the Cooking Channel; except for when the boyfriend changes the channel to football. Oh football season how I love thee.

With my time of binge watching cooking shows came A LOT of inspiration! I realized that I had spent a lot of time eating out and doing restaurant reviews; I had forgotten to get back to my true love and that’s cooking. Well I’m back, and the first recipe I want to share with you guys is my recipe for Abuelita Hot Chocolate!Abuelita Hot Chocolate- A nice twist on the Holiday classic hot chocolate using Nestle Abuelita Mix and Nescafe Cafe de Olla. Nice hints of cinnamon and dark chocolate really gives this hot chocolate a lot of flavor! This is a twist on the classic hot chocolate recipe because I used Nestle Abuelita Chocolate Mix and  Nescafe Cafe de Olla instead of your traditional milk, bittersweet, or dark chocolate. Both have nice hints of cinnamon and really amp up the flavor of the hot chocolate! For the adults I added the Bailey’s Irish Cream, and if your making it kid friendly then you would just leave it out.

Check out the full recipe below, and Happy Holidays!! <3 Evi

Abuelita Hot Chocolate

Yield: 4
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 10 minutes

A nice twist on the Holiday classic hot chocolate using Nestle Abuelita Mix and Nescafe Cafe de Olla. Nice hints of cinnamon and dark chocolate really gives this hot chocolate a lot of flavor!

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups of whole milk
  • 5 tbsp of Nestle Abuelita Chocolate Mix
  • 2 tsp of Nescafe Cafe de Olla
  • 2 tsp of grated dark chocolate
  • 1 tsp of vanilla
  • 1 tsp of brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup of Bailey's Irish Cream liquer
  • Whipped cream and shaved dark chocolate for garnish.

Instructions

  1. Heat up the milk in a larg saucepan until just above a boil.
  2. Lower the heat, and continue to simmer the milk. Add the abuelita chocolate mix, nescafe cafe de olla, grated chocolate, vanilla, brown sugar, and the bailey's Irish Cream and simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
  3. Turn off the heat, pour into mugs, and garnish with whipped cream and shaved dark chocolate.

Notes

If you're having trouble locating the Nestle Abuletia Hot Chocolate Mix and the Nescafe De Olla try looking in the international isle in your local grocery store. I've also seen them in International farmer's markets as well.

You can leave out the Baileys Irish cream to make it kid friendly and non boozy.

You can substitute the dark chocolate for milk chocolate, but use less because it will make the hot chocolate really sweet (unless that's what you're going for).
