These Creole chicken wings are seasoned to perfection! Spicy, zesty, and full of flavor!
I absolutely LOVE these creole chicken wings. It consists of all my favorite spices and seasonings that I like to call my creole or cajun seasoning mixed with butter! Butter makes everything taste better, and when its used on chicken wings, it caramelizes the skin and gives the wings SO MUCH FLAVOR!These aren’t your average chicken wings as the flavors are unique, but I love playing with spices and seasonings when it comes to wings. Can you imagine having unlimited wings with as many flavors as you’d like?! That would be amazing! I’m thinking I need to make a collection of all my favorite wing recipes. These creole chicken wings are perfect as an appetizer for a party, or lunch or dinner. I like to garnish with sliced jalapenos, cilantro, and lime juice for some extra zest. You don’t need a dipping sauce with these, although if you wanted to include one; I wouldn’t be mad at you! I think a ranch or chipotle dipping sauce would be good. - 12 party size chicken wings, tips removed and discarded
- Vegetable oil for frying
- ½ cup butter, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- salt and black pepper to taste
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper and set aside.
- Combine all of the spices together in a small bowl. You can also use a mortar and pestle.
- Mix the seasoning into the butter until well combined. Set aside.
- Season wings with salt and pepper generously, and set aside.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Oil temperature should heat to between 350-375 degrees.
- Once the oil is ready, fry each wing for 3-4 minutes per side; just until they are golden brown and crispy. Make sure not to overcrowd the pan with wings so you do not drop the temperature of the oil.
- Remove the fried wings from the oil and place on the parchment lined baking sheet.
- Toss the wings with the creole butter mixture.
- Place each wing on the parchment lined baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes. Flip the wings halfway through cooking.
- Garnish with cilantro, jalapenos, and lime if desired. Serve immediately.
